About The Position

Shabby Fabrics is seeking a Quilt Pattern Writer to develop engaging, easy-to-follow quilt patterns and contribute to its quilting pattern library. The role creates original patterns, prepares and edits pattern materials using design software, and ensures instructions, diagrams, and material requirements are accurate and clear. The position collaborates with the design team to reflect the brand aesthetic and customer preferences, manages multiple projects and deadlines, and reviews and tests patterns before publication.

Requirements

Previous experience in quilt pattern writing or design.
Proficiency with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Electric Quilt.
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for organizing and managing pattern data.
Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects without compromising quality.
Knowledge of quilting techniques, terminology, and trends.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of machine embroidery.
Currently based in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

Develop original, innovative, visually appealing quilt patterns suitable for quilters of all skill levels.
Use InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Electric Quilt to create and edit patterns.
Manage multiple pattern projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Create and proofread patterns with close attention to accuracy and clarity.
Collaborate with the design team to align patterns with the brand aesthetic and customer preferences.
Maintain organized pattern records and documentation, including instructions, diagrams, and material requirements.
Communicate pattern instructions, techniques, and tips clearly.
Review and test patterns to ensure they meet quality standards and are error-free before publication.
