About The Position

The School of Engineering at Santa Clara University seeks a dynamic quarterly lecturer (QL) for the 2026-2027 academic year to teach graduate-level Engineering Management (EMGT) courses. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to innovative teaching methods, and the ability to contribute to the university's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. The role requires dedication to the well-being and advancement of students, colleagues, the School, and the discipline of engineering management. Lecturers will be expected to teach in the graduate program, which operates on a quarter system (10 weeks per quarter plus an exam week). QLs can teach up to 4 course equivalencies (CEs) per academic year, with a maximum of 2 CEs per quarter, and an additional 2 CEs during summer terms. A 4-unit graduate lecture is equivalent to 1 CE, and a 2-unit lecture is 0.66 CE.

Requirements

  • Earned graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in engineering management or equivalent.
  • At a minimum, candidates should hold a Master’s degree with equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to teach in our graduate program.
  • Must be able to perform work within California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, or Illinois if approved to telecommute.
  • Must be able to provide evidence of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more graduate Engineering Management courses.
  • Participate in all related activities, including preparing and conducting class meetings.
  • Assign and evaluate/grade student work appropriately.
  • Be available to students for consultation outside of class.
  • Assign student grades appropriately and submit them on time to the Office of Student Records.
  • Conduct course assessments as required by the department.
  • Complete and submit time cards every two weeks.
  • Comply with university and school policies, including those delineated in the School of Engineering Term Faculty Handbook.
