About The Position

The Department of General Engineering at Santa Clara University is seeking applications for quarterly lecturers (QLs) for the 2026-2027 academic year to teach General Engineering courses. Santa Clara University operates on a quarter system, with each quarter (fall, winter, and spring) lasting 10 weeks plus an additional week for final examinations. Graduate classes are typically scheduled in the early morning or evening slots, while undergraduate classes are held throughout the day, Monday through Friday. QLs have a limit on the number of course equivalencies (CEs) they can teach per academic year and per quarter, with additional CEs allowed during summer terms. Requirements

  • Earned graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field. At a minimum, candidates should hold a Master’s degree with equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching computer science and engineering at the undergraduate level and/or graduate level.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct all assigned class meetings
  • Assign and evaluate/grade student work appropriately
  • Be available to students for consultation outside of class
  • Assign student grades appropriately and submitting them on time to the Office of Student Records
  • Conduct course assessments as required by the department
