About The Position

The Quantitative Tutor Program Manager will oversee Quantitative Center tutors, managing peer tutoring hours, agile scheduling, and reporting on weekly tutoring activities, online training, meetings, and emails. This role involves close collaboration with the Q-Center director, coordinator, and student front-desk staff to ensure consistent academic support within a dynamic, student-centered environment. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, hourly position with a two-year term limit, funded by a gift.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in a STEM field
  • Previous experience working with STEM student peer tutors
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or course instructor for STEM college students
  • Previous experience working at a teaching and learning center in a role involving course implementations of pedagogically appropriate activities for 3 years

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in STEM field
  • Previous experience as a STEM teaching assistant or course instructor for both lectures and labs
  • Certificate in College Teaching with formal pedagogy training and curriculum design
  • Previous experience working in a STEM-focused college teaching center

Responsibilities

  • Develop agile, data-driven system approaches for successful peer tutoring across multiple programs and departments, in conjunction with the director.
  • Establish partnerships with faculty for program-specific mathematical tutor training and development.
  • Oversee orientation and online pedagogy training for tutors during Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Maintain Canvas-based information and updates for all Q-Center tutors.
  • Oversee student workers in developing online modules for baseline skills and competencies during the summer.
  • Assist the director with planning for tutor hiring and the allocation of tutoring hours (drop-in, private, embedded).
  • Schedule all Q-Center tutor hours across courses.
  • Meet with peer tutors to discuss their experiences and address questions through daytime shifts and two night shifts per week in the Q-Center.
  • Analyze tutor session attendance data and assist with tutoring needs-based projections for semester-long support.
  • Evaluate patterns from weekly activity logs detailing tutor work distribution.
  • Lead weekly tutoring sessions in high-level STEM/Quantitative courses as needed, providing specialized skills beyond peer tutoring capabilities.
  • Offer skills-based tutoring by appointment for R or other programming languages.
  • Oversee the Q-Center front-desk staff in their training, scheduling, and payroll.
  • Maintain consistent updates with front-desk staff, including timely shift changes.
