About The Position
Under the general supervision of the Corps Officer, the Seasonal Support Worker is responsible for providing students with individualized assistance to help them learn new concepts and complete assignments. Their duties include studying lesson plans and reviewing textbooks to prepare for a lesson, assigning additional projects and answering a student’s questions about a topic. Provides tutoring and assistance to the after-school programs for the Corps including youth club programs; summer/day camp; recommends creative and innovative ideas for program development. Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, facilitates, and monitors a variety of lesson plans, recreational activities, events, and trips to meet the needs and interests of specific groups participating in Salvation Army programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Six months of experience planning and coordinating recreational activities, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in an elementary or middle school setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Meets with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems.
- Supports classroom-centered activities, and as such, the emphasis and content of the tutoring sessions is determined by the student's needs.
- Plans, promotes, coordinates, and facilitates activities on a regular basis to include recreational, entertaining, educational, and/or devotional topics.
