About The Position

The Quantitative Research Team at Lazard Asset Management applies advanced statistical and computational techniques to address real-world investment challenges. They combine cutting-edge quantitative methods with deep market insights to drive better investment outcomes for clients. This hands-on, 10-week internship is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in quantitative research. Interns will work directly with investment professionals on real investment problems, contributing from day one. They will be paired with a dedicated mentor and gain access to industry veterans. The program offers the collegiality and hands-on exposure of a small group, backed by the resources of a global firm, in an environment built to sharpen technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Rising undergraduate juniors only, graduating in 2029.
  • Ability to start an internship June 7, 2027, and end August 13, 2027.
  • Ability to be in NYC for the duration of the internship.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Highly motivated students with strong quantitative and analytical skills who are excited to apply their expertise to finance.
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms and NLP techniques.
  • Undergraduate students majoring in mathematics, statistics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, economics, or related fields.
  • Excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with programming, especially in Python, for data processing and analysis.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and data analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn.
  • Passion for quantitative research and financial markets.
  • Familiarity or experience with generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance quantitative models to support investment decisions.
  • Analyze large datasets to uncover actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, researchers, and developers to solve complex investment problems.
  • Present findings and recommendations to team members and stakeholders.
