About The Position

As a Quantitative Investments Analyst Co-op, you'll be part of the Canadian Equities – Quantitative Research team within CIBC's Investments division. Our team specializes in quantitative research for Canadian equity and bond asset classes, supporting portfolio managers and economists with advanced modeling and analysis. You'll help maintain and enhance our research models, identify macro-economic factors, and contribute to the development of innovative tools, such as the Unified Asset Tracking Interface (UATI). Working closely with experienced professionals, you'll reinforce our coding infrastructure and gain hands-on exposure to the investment process, collaborating across the team to drive impactful results. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies.
  • Proficient in coding.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Enjoy working with data and applying quantitative methods to solve complex problems in finance.
  • Collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve models for Canadian equity and bond asset classes through research and coding.
  • Analyze macro-economic factors to inform and support investment strategies.
  • Develop and reinforce coding solutions, optimizing research workflows and tools.
  • Utilize project management best practices to manage your tasks; plan, execute, control and close projects, and work independently.
  • Work with portfolio managers, economists, and fellow analysts to share insights and advance projects.
  • Assist in building new tools, such as the Unified Asset Tracking Interface (UATI), to streamline investment operations.
