About The Position

The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is seeking one Quantitative Equity Co-op Student/Intern for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 (September to April) to support the Capital Markets & Credit Investments team. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, team player interested in developing their professional career and learning more about driving sustainable growth, accelerating innovation, and operating on a global scale. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level program in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or other analytical discipline.
  • Strong programming skills, with experience in Python and SQL preferred.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the investment field, gaining quantitative investment experience, and exploring what the industry has to offer.
  • Passion for numbers, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining excellent product quality and attention to detail.
  • Team player who has the drive to continue learning, excel, and grow in a team-oriented and dynamic environment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to the highest ethical standards.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the job is located.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analysis and machine learning techniques is a plus.
  • Some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of members of the Quantitative Equity team on various projects.
  • Use programming (primarily Python and SQL) to enhance the proprietary systems and tools built and managed by the team.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to enhance the quantitative investment strategies managed by the team.
  • Participate in regular team research meetings and discuss new ideas and projects.

  • Competitive pay: Front Office: $2,745.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary.
