Quant Developer, Trading Systems (Rust and C++)

About The Position

Blockhouse is hiring a quant engineer to work between research and production, owning the path from researchers’ specifications to live signals trading real capital. The role involves working directly with the founders and quant researchers. The company is open to engineers with 2 to 5 years of experience and expects the successful candidate to take on objectives, write specifications, break work into tickets, and guide the engineering team through sound judgment. Blockhouse provides institutional asset managers with noncustodial trading infrastructure for crypto and tokenized markets, including FX, equities, treasuries, and compute futures. The company also runs live delta-neutral funding-rate and market-making strategies with client capital across major venues and is expanding into frontier markets such as compute hedging.

Requirements

  • Previous professional experience at a trading firm or building a trading system; side projects alone do not qualify.
  • 2 to 5 years of production experience in C++ and Rust, with real depth in at least one and working fluency in the other.
  • A track record of shipping low-latency or performance-sensitive trading systems.
  • Strong understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, networking, and performance trade-offs on Linux.
  • Comfort with Python and Go across tooling, gateways, and research integration.
  • Readiness to own objectives, direct others, and make decisions without waiting to be told.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating crypto or equities exchange APIs.
  • Background in market making, HFT, or execution systems.
  • Familiarity with margin, funding, and portfolio accounting across venues.
  • Experience running trading infrastructure in the cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Turn research specifications into production signals, including basis and FX pairs, nowcast fits, index-futures pricing, and momentum.
  • Build and optimize low-latency components in C++ and Rust, including market-data publishers, book feeds, and the market-making engine.
  • Own exchange connectivity across crypto and traditional venues, including order books, rate-limit pacing, funding and borrow data, and order reconciliation.
  • Debug and harden production systems, including memory profiling, reconnect and heartbeat logic, and crash investigation.
  • Co-lead cloud infrastructure with an existing senior engineer.
  • Lead the engineering team day to day through specifications, code review across repositories, and onboarding junior engineers.

Benefits

  • Meaningful equity and performance upside
  • Direct ownership of systems that drive firm PnL
  • Close work with the founders and quant team
  • A live trading environment with a high engineering bar
