About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Rust Developer to design, build, and optimize high-performance distributed systems, low-latency backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure components for mission-critical enterprise platforms. The role focuses on developing concurrent, memory-safe applications in Rust and integrating them with cloud environments, container orchestration platforms, and event-driven architectures. The developer will work with platform engineers, distributed systems architects, DevOps teams, and product engineering groups to build scalable APIs, asynchronous processing pipelines, networking services, and infrastructure automation tools. The role includes contributing to architecture, implementation, performance optimization, deployment, and operational excellence for large-scale production systems. The position is full-time, direct W2, and 100% remote within the U.S. The salary range is $145,000–$205,000 annually. The employer cannot sponsor new H-1B visa petitions; U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise applications.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on Rust development experience in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Rust, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, and macros.
  • Extensive asynchronous Rust development experience with Tokio, async/await, Futures, and Actix or Axum.
  • Strong understanding of concurrent programming, multithreading, synchronization primitives, and lock-free programming concepts.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and high-performance backend applications.
  • Understanding of operating system fundamentals, including memory management, process scheduling, file systems, and networking.
  • Experience with Linux production environments and command-line tooling.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience integrating distributed messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or Pulsar.
  • Strong debugging, profiling, benchmarking, and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building distributed systems for high-throughput financial, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or telecommunications platforms.
  • Familiarity with Rust web frameworks such as Axum, Warp, Rocket, or Actix Web.
  • Experience developing Kubernetes Operators or cloud-native infrastructure tooling.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and distributed tracing platforms.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic libraries, TLS, secure communications, and certificate management.
  • Experience building command-line tools and systems utilities using Rust.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ interoperability through Foreign Function Interface (FFI).
  • Contributions to open-source Rust projects or participation in the Rust community.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance Rust backend services for large-scale distributed systems.
  • Build low-latency APIs, asynchronous processing services, and event-driven microservices.
  • Develop networking applications using TCP, UDP, HTTP/2, gRPC, WebSockets, and QUIC protocols.
  • Build concurrent applications using Rust's async ecosystem, including Tokio and async/await.
  • Design resilient services that process millions of transactions with high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Optimize CPU utilization, memory management, thread scheduling, and application performance.
  • Integrate services with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams, or other enterprise messaging platforms.
  • Develop secure APIs and authentication services supporting OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and mTLS.
  • Build observability capabilities, including structured logging, distributed tracing, and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, system design discussions, and production support.
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to automate deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Investigate production issues involving networking, concurrency, memory utilization, and distributed systems.
  • Contribute to architecture, implementation, performance optimization, deployment, and operational excellence for production systems.
