About The Position

The Quality Technician & CMM Programmer (First Shift) is primarily responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining inspection programs for a Zeiss Contura G2 coordinate measuring machine (CMM) using ZEISS CALYPSO. Starting at 6:00 AM, this role supports multiple programs by developing, validating, and optimizing CMM inspection routines; interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T and documenting inspection results. The position also performs hands-on dimensional inspections, identifies nonconformances, and partners with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to ensure product conformance and timely issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must have 4 years CMM software Zeiss CALYPSO or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Keyence machines
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • MS Office Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience programming and operating a Zeiss CMM using ZEISS CALYPSO, including experience developing and validating CMM inspection programs.
  • Proficiency with standard mechanical inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, specifications, and build documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming a Zeiss Contura G2 or comparable Zeiss bridge CMM is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Keyence systems or other digital inspection tools.
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to coach operators on inspection best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Program, validate, troubleshoot, and optimize ZEISS CALYPSO inspection routines for the Zeiss Contura G2 CMM
  • Operate the CMM to perform first article, in-process, final, and other dimensional inspections
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to determine inspection requirements and measurement strategies
  • Create and maintain clear, controlled CMM program documentation and inspection records
  • Verify CMM program results and measurement repeatability before release for production use
  • Accurately document inspection results, nonconformances, and process discrepancies in applicable quality systems
  • Perform supplemental dimensional and visual inspections using calibrated tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and specialized inspection equipment
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to resolve inspection and build issues
  • Follow all applicable quality procedures, safety guidelines, and configuration-control processes
