About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician II supports production of copper-clad laminates and dielectric materials used in printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication. The role works with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance to improve process stability, product quality, equipment reliability, and manufacturing efficiency. Under moderate supervision, the technician independently handles routine technical work in an assigned process area, evaluates process and equipment issues using established methods, recommends corrective actions, and escalates complex or recurring problems. Applicable Level I duties may also be performed as needed. The position supports presses and lamination systems, material handling systems, and quality inspection and testing equipment. The technician maintains accurate process, test, and engineering records, including material and lot traceability, and follows approved work instructions, specifications, safety, environmental, quality, and document-control requirements. The D shift schedule is 6:00 PM–6:30 AM, Wednesday through Friday, plus every other Saturday. Overtime, including extended shifts and weekend work, may be required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot routine issues independently and operate, set up, or evaluate industrial process equipment within assigned responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, root cause analysis, test execution, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with Excel data analysis and clear technical reporting.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills, including English reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methods.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety, environmental, and quality requirements; use required protective equipment and perform equipment work only within documented training and authorization.
  • Support presses and lamination systems, material handling systems, and quality inspection and testing equipment within the assigned manufacturing area.
  • Maintain accurate process, test, and engineering records, including material and lot traceability, and follow approved work instructions, specifications, and document-control requirements.
  • Promptly communicate process abnormalities and quality or equipment concerns, coordinating with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to support safe, consistent operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities at the assigned level of responsibility.
  • Troubleshoot routine laminate production issues, including thickness variation, surface defects, and press-cycle deviations, by reviewing process history, material records, and equipment conditions.
  • Analyze yield, scrap, downtime, and process trends using Excel and statistical process control (SPC); identify abnormal variation and summarize findings for Engineering and Production.
  • Execute engineering-approved process trials, product tests, validation activities, and capability studies; organize test data and prepare results against defined acceptance criteria.
  • Recommend process adjustments and implement approved changes within established operating limits and change-control requirements.
  • Conduct assigned portions of root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Whys and cause-and-effect analysis; implement assigned CAPA actions and collect evidence of effectiveness.
  • Draft and revise work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and setup documentation for engineering review and controlled release.
  • Work with Maintenance to distinguish process-related issues from equipment faults, document findings, and verify performance after approved repairs or adjustments.
  • Support qualification of new materials, products, and equipment by coordinating samples, recording conditions, and documenting test results.
  • Complete defined continuous improvement assignments to reduce scrap, cycle time, or downtime and compare results with the baseline.
  • Train operators and Level I technicians on approved procedures, routine tests, and data collection within demonstrated areas of proficiency.
