About The Position

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality staff and ensuring adherence to quality standards. This role involves training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisals, and problem-solving. The supervisor will assist in developing product specifications, maintaining quality control objectives, and cooperating with other departments to maximize efficiency. Key responsibilities include directing inspection and testing, investigating customer complaints, maintaining the Quality Manual, instituting preventive controls, and overseeing sampling and testing programs. The role also involves troubleshooting on the production floor to eliminate food safety hazards, managing material release, issuing instructions for BPP or SOPs, conducting accident investigations, overseeing plant sanitation, and monitoring the SQF Plan. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in science: Food Science, Biology or similar backgrounds preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in Quality Systems required.
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & CFR 117 required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word required.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) plant safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to read, speak and write in English.
  • Proven success with working in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GFSI audits is strongly preferred.
  • Some knowledge of ERP Systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, JDE, or SAP is preferred but not required.
  • Experience or familiarity with organic, kosher, gluten-free regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Quality staff, including training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists in developing product, ingredient, and component specifications.
  • Proposes and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates with other departments.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities.
  • Investigates customer complaints regarding quality and food safety.
  • Ensures the Quality Manual is maintained.
  • Institutes and oversees preventive controls.
  • Maintains records of Training forms for the site.
  • Prepares sample submission packages for testing.
  • Oversees the sampling, retention, and testing program.
  • Troubleshoots on the production floor to eliminate food safety hazards.
  • Eliminates/minimizes deviations from specifications and prepares deviation or OOS reports.
  • Responsible for material release.
  • Issues written and oral instructions in the form of BPP or SOPs.
  • Conducts accident investigations and drafts incident reports.
  • Oversees plant sanitation.
  • Monitors the SQF Plan and updates as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
