About The Position

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our engineering partners, equipment vendors, process engineering team and manufacturing operations team to help establish and operate an industry-leading precision fermentation facility.

Requirements

  • The incumbent must be based in Richmond, Indiana prior to the facility start-up.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Science or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous work experience in food manufacturing or biomanufacturing is required.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, FSMA, HACCP, GMP) is required.
  • Extensive experience in a lab setting and quality control is required.
  • Experience with instrumentation such as HPLC, spectrophotometers, or similar is required.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and complaint handling processes is required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and results-oriented.
  • Energized at the idea of helping to create and build a positive work culture.

Nice To Haves

  • PCQI or HACCP certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support and help lead food safety and quality assurance programs, including HACCP, GMP, and internal audits.
  • Investigate and manage customer complaints, non-conformances, and CAPAs.
  • Conduct and support internal and external audits, including documentation and follow-up.
  • Assist with customer questionnaires and regulatory inquiries.
  • Assist with customer inquiries on standard documentation requests.
  • Assist with food safety certification processes and maintenance.
  • Maintain and calibrate analytical instrumentation used in QA/QC testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in QC testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products when necessary.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and organized quality documentation and records.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of PCQI or equivalent food safety plans.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing operations to maintain quality control systems.
  • Maintain lab organization and cleanliness.
  • Follow good laboratory practices to maintain good record keeping practices.
  • Assist with audits (customer and internal) to maintain quality management systems.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of documentation, methods and apply best practices, standards and procedures for quality.
  • Investigate quality incidents to help reduce out of specification products.
  • Champion employee and product safety and participate in key safety and food safety reviews.
  • Build strong relationships and interface effectively with colleagues.
  • Complete other duties as required.
