Quality Program Manager - Construction

JSET Automated Technologies•Columbus, OH

About The Position

JSET Automated Technologies is seeking a Quality Program Manager to build and lead the company’s first dedicated quality program. The role will shape how quality is integrated into construction, controls, and commissioning work for mission-critical and data center projects. The focus is on building practical processes, coaching teams, preventing recurring issues, and embedding quality throughout project delivery rather than relying only on end-of-process inspection. The position works across Project Management, Construction, Controls, and Commissioning teams, supporting quality in planning, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover. It includes developing quality standards and documentation, training employees, conducting audits and readiness reviews, managing corrective actions, analyzing quality trends, and reporting progress and risks to leadership. The manager is expected to spend time on job sites at least weekly and build relationships with field teams. The role is based in Columbus, Ohio, with a hybrid arrangement involving office work, project sites, and travel. It is not remote, though situational work-from-home flexibility is available. Travel is up to 20%, depending on project needs. Project-site work requires appropriate PPE, compliance with site safety requirements, walking active construction areas, standing for extended periods, and navigating stairs. Employment is conditional on completing a background and drug screening.

Requirements

  • Experience leading or improving quality processes or quality management systems in construction, industrial manufacturing, controls, mission-critical work, or a similar technical environment.
  • A track record of training, mentoring, or coaching others, such as teaching classes, leading toolbox talks, rolling out procedures, or developing field employees.
  • Hands-on experience with root-cause analysis, corrective action, audits, or other structured improvement work.
  • Comfort working in both an office and active job sites, with credibility to connect with field teams.
  • Patience and diplomacy to deliver constructive feedback and influence people without relying on authority.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (approximately five or more years of relevant experience).
  • Ability to complete a background and drug screening as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Mission-critical or data center construction experience.
  • Exposure to BAS/BMS, EPMS, controls integration, startup, or commissioning.
  • Familiarity with the NEC and electrical, low-voltage, communications, or HVAC controls scopes (CSI Divisions 23, 25, 26, and 27).
  • Quality certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQA, or CMQ/OE; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor; Lean; or Six Sigma.
  • Experience with Procore or comparable construction or quality-management platforms.
  • Supplier or subcontractor quality management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own JSET’s quality program, including practical standards, procedures, quality gates, forms, and documentation.
  • Train, mentor, and coach employees through onboarding, role-based training, and hands-on field guidance.
  • Partner with Project Management, Construction, Controls, and Commissioning teams to integrate quality into planning, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Conduct quality audits and readiness reviews, and verify that required documentation is completed.
  • Track deficiencies and nonconformances, facilitate root-cause analysis and corrective action, and confirm that fixes are effective.
  • Analyze quality data and trends, identify recurring issues, and propose practical solutions.
  • Report quality metrics, risks, and improvement progress to leadership.
  • Spend time on job sites at least weekly to observe issues firsthand and build relationships with field teams.
