About The Position

The Quality Manager will collaborate with business leaders, designers, project managers, and customers to develop and execute validation plans that ensure automated system solutions meet customer process requirements. This role will champion, support, and lead quality improvement initiatives across both the Automation and Nuclear sectors, while ensuring alignment with corporate quality standards and internal audit requirements. Leading a team of Quality Engineers and Technicians, the Quality Manager will oversee the Eclipse Quality Inspection Lab while fostering the Eclipse Vision and Entrepreneurial Culture.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed either a University Degree or College Diploma in applied science, engineering field or related experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ management experience in quality assurance
  • Experience in quality management systems and auditing processes
  • Automation industry experience an asset
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
  • Solid judgment with ability to make good decisions
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that customer requirements and expectations have been accurately identified and that the organization is meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Work with the Standards and Compliance Manager and department to ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation including ISO 9001, CSA Z299.1, CSA N299.1, GAMP, TSSA
  • Manage and maintain the Eclipse’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods.
  • Oversee daily operations of the quality control laboratory, ensuring testing accuracy, regulatory compliance, proper equipment calibration, and continuous improvement of quality assurance processes
  • Setting quality assurance compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved
  • Creating and maintaining controls and documentation procedures
  • Support Standards & Compliance Mgr. with customers’ auditors and ensuring the exception of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
  • Assist in proposal preparation activities, including but not limited to responding to customer specification documents, preparation of analyses and supporting documentation.
  • Identify potentially high-risk elements of automation projects and develop and lead a mitigation strategy.
  • Support or lead development of automation concepts, including those for critical processes and systems to ensure that functional and critical requirements will be met.
  • Create models or conducts experiment to validate design outputs and assumptions.
  • Perform hands-on testing of designed apparatus to mitigate technical risks.
  • Responsible for defining and documenting the automated process requirements and equipment specifications, and engineering documents such as: Concept Technical Risk Assessment, FMEA and Vendor Technical Specifications, Functional Specification, Acceptance Test Plans.
  • Lead complex technical challenges; develop, communicate, and lead recommended path forward.
  • Responsible for systems engineering tasks, including analysis and design support of all aspects of a machine, including but not limited to identification, planning, and execution of: System Accuracy, Cycle-time, Vibration, Hazards, Thermal Analysis, Metrology/Instrumentation, Kinematics, Reliability, Simulations, Testing, Statistical Analysis, Failure Mode Effect
  • Participate in design and concept reviews with customers, vendors, and internal design/engineering groups.
  • Coordinate project activities with suppliers of third-party equipment, including writing technical specifications, conducting the acceptance tests and approval of the equipment.
  • Identify and develop innovation ideas and support or lead technology innovations and assessments, including but not limited to: Assist in the design, development and testing. Identifying and define development activities and responsibilities. Initiate, maintain, and lead the risk assessment and mitigation plan.
  • Promote positive relations between departments and with partners, customers, vendors, and distributors.
  • Ensure a robust talent management strategy to increase bench strength and ensure employee development and succession plans are in place for the Quality department.
  • Effectively coach and mentor the quality team to carry out departmental tasks and achieve results.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with all direct reports to review departmental status and future planning.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations which support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend Eclipse Database improvements on an ongoing basis to increase efficiency throughout the company.
  • Continuously resource new innovative solutions for corporate competitiveness.
  • Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy.
