About The Position

The Project Quality Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing quality activities for the Advanced Nuclear Material Research Center project. The role supports both engineering and manufacturing scopes and ensures all quality deliverables meet contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements. The position operates within an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) environment and ensures compliance with CSA N299.2 and project-specific requirements defined in Exhibit O. The role works directly with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and project teams to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined, implemented, and verified.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of QA/QC experience in nuclear, heavy fabrication, or industrial environments, with exposure to both engineering and manufacturing scopes.
  • Experience in a project-based quality leadership role (e.g., Project Quality Lead, Senior Quality Engineer), responsible for planning and executing project quality requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including CSA W59/W47.1, CSA N299/N286, and relevant ASME codes.
  • Experience supporting EPC-style project delivery, including design control and change management, procurement and supplier quality oversight, fabrication, and inspection planning (ITPs withhold/witness points).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement project-specific quality plans aligned with QMS, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to coordinate quality activities across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and supply chain teams.
  • Experience interfacing with clients, regulators, and inspectors, including audits and formal reviews.
  • Strong capability in managing nonconformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree or technical equivalent; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset.
  • Quality certification (ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)) is considered an asset.
  • CWB Welding Supervisor or Welding Inspector certification is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) projects and construction contract quality requirements is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate project quality activities across engineering and manufacturing.
  • Ensure project compliance with internal CSA N299.2 program, as well as Exhibit O, and all applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Quality Plan and supporting inspection and test plans.
  • Track quality deliverables against project milestones and ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure quality requirements are properly implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain traceability and completeness of quality records for final turnover.
  • Communicate quality status, risks, and issues clearly and directly.
  • Support project schedule and milestone commitments.
  • Ensure quality requirements are integrated into day-to-day project execution.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor assigned quality engineers and inspectors on the project.
  • Support engineering teams in applying project and regulatory quality requirements.
  • Review design packages and technical documentation for compliance & verify that design verification and validation activities are completed.
  • Ensure configuration control and document control requirements are followed.
  • Participate in design reviews and identify quality-related risks or gaps.
  • Oversee inspection and testing activities for fabricated components and assemblies.
  • Ensure inspection and test plans are implemented, including hold and witness points.
  • Support shop floor teams to ensure procedures and quality requirements are followed.
  • Review manufacturing records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure nonconformances are identified, documented, and resolved.
  • Lead or support investigation of nonconformances and communicating with technical leads/&SMEs for resolution/dispositioning requirements.
  • Ensure root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Track and close NCRs, CARs, and audit findings in a timely manner.
  • Identify recurring issues and support corrective measures at a system level.
  • Verify supplier qualification and evaluation activities & ensure procurement documents include required quality and technical requirements.
  • Review supplier documentation for compliance prior to acceptance & monitor supplier performance and address quality issues as required.
