About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a manufacturing or quality engineering professional to join Emerson's North American Quality Team in Marshalltown, IA. The role involves monitoring the manufacturing of valves for nuclear power plants, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. The Supplier Quality Engineer will act as a liaison between manufacturing and suppliers, focusing on driving continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with company and government standards, and resolving issues related to design, manufacturability, or quality requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical discipline is required
  • A minimum of five (5) years of Manufacturing Engineering or Supplier Quality Engineering experience
  • Experience with materials, manufacturing technologies, and manufacturing processes such as forging, casting, and machining
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Able to facilitate work with cross-functional groups to drive results
  • Up to 40% travel required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Auditing ISO 9001, ISO14001/45000, ASME NQA-1
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section III Nuclear and Navy Mil-Spec
  • Certification of ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Lead Auditor

Responsibilities

  • Support all Emerson sites (including Quality WW team) for quality initiatives related to suppliers in North America
  • Collaborate with Global Supply Chain in Nuclear Supplier development
  • Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to address issues identified by suppliers relating to Design, Manufacturability, or Quality Requirements
  • Conduct source inspections, periodic supplier audits, and performance assessments at vendor locations
  • Work in collaboration with the global NBU Supply chain, Manufacturing Operations, and Engineering to identify and resolve issues
  • Provide suppliers timely nonconformance data for rejected product
  • Provide suppliers problem-solving and root cause analysis support to eliminate recurrences of non-conformances efficiently and effectively
  • Manage and monitor Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARS)
  • Ensure appropriate supplier corrective and preventative actions are implemented and proven to be effective in addressing quality deficiencies
  • Create monthly reports
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives when targets are missed and maintain positive working relationships with vendors
