About The Position

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a driven and self-motivated professional to join Mainroad Alberta Contracting (Vermilion) LP as our Quality Manager. In this key leadership role, you will lead and support the organization’s quality program, providing guidance to operations teams and ensuring compliance with all quality and contract requirements related to highway maintenance operations. This is a full-time salaried position based in Camrose, Alberta, reporting directly to the Corporate Quality Manager. We are seeking a proactive, hands-on quality professional who brings strong interpersonal skills, technical expertise, and a demonstrated ability to lead effectively. Mainroad Alberta Contracting (Vermilion) LP was awarded two provincial highway maintenance contracts (CMA 512 and CMA 513), covering approximately 2,160 kilometres of highway and 59 bridges. Operations will be supported through yard locations in Blackfoot, Edgerton, Dewberry, Wainwright, Vermilion, Viking, Killam, and Camrose. Requirements

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in Engineering, Business Administration or Construction/Project Management is required, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Previous quality control/management, contract interpretation, analytics, field auditing, and report writing experience in the highway maintenance, construction, natural resources, or a closely related industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a management/leadership role in a relevant industry.
  • Training and certification in ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 and Lead Auditor Certification.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, SiteDocs or similar database system, GIS.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean abstract.
  • Experience in quality systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal business partners, senior management, and government agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with difficult situations with tact, professionalism, and creativity.
  • Demonstrated leadership – ability to lead by example, build a team environment and foster teamwork.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience driving in winter weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Background in a strong safety culture.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform internal audits to ensure compliance.
  • Contract interpretation and application.
  • Work with local and corporate teams to support ISO requirements and annual audits to ensure certification is achieved and retained and in good standing.
  • Produce, present, and submit quality reports.
  • Chairing internal and external meetings.
  • Implement and maintain the QMS.
  • Oversees the non-conformity process.
  • Working with operations to develop recommendations for improvements.
  • Development of app-based forms and management of associated data flow and reporting.
  • Manages client feedback.
  • Involvement in the environmental and safety programs.
  • Produce and update systems and plans related to quality.
  • Train operations on systems and plans.
