About The Position

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) is seeking a Quality Manager for its Moorpark, California facility. The role has site-level responsibility for quality performance, quality systems, customer compliance, manufacturing quality, corrective action, and team leadership in a complex aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. The Quality Manager leads the site quality organization and works closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Program Management. The role combines hands-on manufacturing-floor issue resolution with strategic quality-system improvement, supports customer commitments and production readiness, and helps scale the site’s quality capabilities as production demand and program complexity grow. The position is intended for a quality leader with strong knowledge of AS9100 and customer quality requirements, experience addressing manufacturing quality issues through containment and structured problem solving, and the ability to develop a capable quality team and strengthen quality ownership across the site.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Significant quality leadership experience in manufacturing.
Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and customer quality requirements.
Demonstrated experience with manufacturing quality, root cause analysis, corrective action, containment, and quality-system improvement.
Experience leading, coaching, and developing quality professionals.
Ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and hands-on execution level.
Strong customer-facing communication skills and credibility.
Proven ability to influence cross-functionally across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Program Management.

Nice To Haves

Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
A degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations, or a related technical field.
Experience in a rapidly scaling or complex production environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the site quality organization and own site quality performance, compliance, and execution.
Establish expectations, priorities, accountability, and an operating rhythm for the quality team.
Balance floor-level issue resolution with site priorities and quality-system improvement.
Partner with Operations leadership to advance Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
Maintain and strengthen the site quality management system in alignment with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable aerospace and defense standards.
Ensure adherence to internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
Support audits, customer reviews, compliance activities, and quality-system improvement initiatives.
Identify systemic risks and lead actions to improve process capability, discipline, and predictability.
Lead containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action for manufacturing quality issues.
Use data, facts, and cross-functional engagement to drive structured problem solving.
Partner with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management to resolve quality issues.
Improve first-pass yield, reduce escapes, strengthen defect prevention, and support production readiness.
Represent the site in customer-facing quality matters and lead communication and resolution of customer concerns, nonconformances, corrective actions, and quality performance issues.
Build working relationships across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Program teams, and influence quality ownership across the organization.
Coach, develop, and hold the quality team accountable for performance, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Build team capability, succession depth, and engagement; develop quality leaders and individual contributors.
Create a culture of ownership, urgency, transparency, and continuous learning.
