About The Position

As a Quality Assurance Specialist at our Pittsburg, K.S facility, you will support production by inspecting materials, workmanship, and completed jobs to help ensure products meet company procedures, drawings, quality standards, and customer expectations. This role works closely with production, engineering, scheduling, and quality teams to identify non-conforming materials, support corrective actions, and help drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 to 2 years of related experience required.
  • Familiarity with welding, electrical, and painting processes.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to complete assignments in an organized and timely manner.
  • Ability to identify quality concerns, call attention to potential hazards, and support continuous improvement.
  • Team members must be able to safely perform a range of physical activities, including standing and walking for extended periods, with frequent use of hands for tasks requiring dexterity and grip.
  • Roles may require frequent bending, kneeling, and maintaining balance, with occasional climbing or repositioning to support production needs.
  • This position is classified as medium work, requiring the ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs consistently.
  • Employees must be able to effectively communicate, hear, and visually assess work to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes at least 1 year in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Assurance Inspector, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of building codes, National Electrical Code requirements, and structural steel paint council standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect production jobs to ensure work is completed according to company policies, procedures, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Review job progression using quality checklists and verify that correct materials are being used based on the outline, legend, and job documentation.
  • Perform final inspections to confirm completed work aligns with drawings, job requirements, and required procedures before shipment.
  • Verify that materials are properly packed, identified, and included on the packing list prior to shipment.
  • Inspect customer-supplied materials to ensure received equipment is compliant with drawings, legends, and specifications.
  • Partner with shop supervisors, engineering, and quality leadership to identify quality concerns, determine corrective actions, and support process improvements.
  • Assist, facilitate, and train production team members as needed to improve product quality and support consistent work practices.
  • Support quality system updates, including assisting with revisions to quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Review customer contact reports and recommend corrective action when needed.
  • Attend production scheduling meetings with operations leaders, department leads, and scheduling partners to support company goals.
