About The Position

The Quality Inspector ensures all equipment used has current calibration and that all pipes passing through the inspection station are visually and dimensionally inspected at production rates. This role involves verifying that all information is documented accurately, whether written or entered into the computer system, and ensuring all gauging is performed and documented at the required test frequency. The inspector must communicate any non-conformities, defects, poor workmanship, or trending scrap to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner. Additionally, they will coordinate with the Hotline supervisor regarding equipment downtime, excessive cuts, machine operator performance, North Line status, blue bell processing, and general issues. The inspector is responsible for ensuring all job and work instructions are followed correctly during production, adhering to all required J.S.A.’s and Lock Out Tag Out procedures, and maintaining clean, neat, safe, and orderly work areas. Environmental training specific to the job must also be completed if applicable.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment being used has current calibration.
  • Ensure all pipes that pass through the inspection station are visually and dimensionally inspected at production rates.
  • Verify all information is documented whether written or entered in the computer system. (e.g. scrap, cuts, RA’s, etc.)
  • Ensure and verify all gauging is being performed and documented at the required test frequency.
  • Communicate with the appropriate supervisor about any non-conformity – defect, poor workmanship, and trending scrap in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Hotline supervisor about equipment downtime, excessive cuts, machine operator performance, North Line status, blue bell processing, and any general issues.
  • Ensure all job and work instructions are being performed correctly for the duration of production, follow all required J.S.A.’s and Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean, neat, safe, and orderly.
  • Complete all required Environmental training specific to this job.
