About The Position

McWane Ductile New Jersey is an industry leader in manufacturing water distribution and infrastructure products. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3" to 24" in diameter. This position is in the Finishing Department and ensures sufficient supply of lumber and wedges are ready and available. The role also ensures all bundling equipment is in working order, pipes are lined up evenly on all slides, and excess paint is touched up or removed from bells. The Bundler will nail wedges onto lumber, operate the elevator table, fill out the bundling report correctly, and inspect paint coating on all pipes for defects. This position requires strong attention to safety, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment. If applicable, the employee must complete all required Environmental training specific to this job. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well extremely hot conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations.
  • The noise level in the environment is loud.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures sufficient supply of lumber and wedges are ready and available.
  • Ensures all bundling equipment is in working order.
  • Ensures the pipes are lined up evenly on all slides.
  • Touches up or removes excess paint from bells.
  • Nails wedges on to the lumber.
  • Operates the elevator table.
  • Fills out bundling report correctly.
  • Inspects paint coating on all pipes for defects.
  • Completes all required Environmental training specific to this job.
  • Performs functional and visual checks on bundling station equipment.
  • Reviews daily production schedule and makes note of any special processing requirements.
  • Recognizes and operates control functions of bundling station.
  • Performs bundling operations.
  • Monitors the quality of spigot stripe, and notifies supervision of any problems.
  • Applies touch up paint to pipe as necessary.
  • Identifies all cuts and marks bell face completely with correct color code.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as required for bundling configuration.
  • Inspects the quality of the pipe that is processed through the bundling station, touches up pipe as necessary.
  • Identifies and segregates non-conforming products to ensure that it does not enter finished goods bundles.
  • Consults supervision or Finishing Department Quality Checkpoint Guide regarding questions on pipe identification, process markings, non-conforming pipe markings, and non-conforming pipe conditions.
