Requirements

  • Must successfully complete and pass the Combined Basic Skills and Inspection & Measurement Skills assessments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures utilized in a Quality Control environment.
  • Meet minimum skill requirements.
  • Have the physical ability to perform the work.
  • Have a work record consistent with Article 14.0 of the labor agreement to include no disciplinary suspensions, safety violations, or final warning per the Attendance Policy in the last 9 months.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of plant and company management.
  • Ability to be observant and analytical, strong focus and attention to detail, thoroughness, and dealing with complexity.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Experience with computer software and working knowledge of various computer programs (Excel, Word, Access, AS400, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of use of micrometers, calipers, and other inspection equipment.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment in a quality inspector role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PCR (Process Control Report) documentation, which lists all routine checks and their frequency that a Quality Inspector and Mechanic must conduct in a timely manner designated by the PCR.
  • Conduct visual checks for dents, scratches, video jet codes, and other visual defects.
  • Perform various depth, height, and width measurements on different parts of the can.
  • Utilize computerized quality check tools, such as a seam scan machine, to conduct various measurements.
  • Protect customers by always conducting PCR checks and placing questionable products in HFI status.
  • Communicate pertinent information between management, co-workers, and between shifts regarding changes to equipment, production problems, or other related information.
  • Follow JHAs, SOPs, Rules, 6S Housekeeping, maintain gauging equipment, and modify existing production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
  • Enter information into a computer to document data, requiring accurate and continuous quality checks and record keeping.
  • Ensure all equipment, guards, and safety devices are always in place, and follow safe work procedures and safety rules.
  • Notify supervisor of any recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective actions taken, and any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
  • Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
