About The Position

The Quality Assurance Inspector 1 examines products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications. This role involves approving in-process production and finished goods by confirming specifications, conducting visual and physical tests, and communicating required adjustments, issues, or trends. The inspector may also perform pre-assembly preparatory work, document inspection results, and assist with production/assembly related work as directed by a supervisor. The position requires adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years quality experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent
  • Ability to work on a team and collaborate with others
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

Responsibilities

  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and physical tests; communicating required adjustments, issues, or trends.
  • Approves finished goods by confirming specifications; conducting visual and physical tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Performs pre-assembly-preparatory work such as cleaning of the housing, removal of excess adhesives, degreasing nuts and screws, and the greasing of O-rings and seal rings.
  • Visually inspects for any abnormalities such as dents, missing parts, general integrity of the product, minor cosmetic issues such as scratches, nicks, switch operations, and general workmanship.
  • Visually inspects the holographic image, glass components and housing by looking at the surface quality.
  • Physically inspects the holographic image, glass components and housing to assure every component falls within tolerance dictated by the product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Cleans smudges, removes dust or debris, and/or performs minor re-work on the holographic image, glass components and/or housing during the inspection process.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Notifies supervisor & senior QC Inspectors when defects are found.
  • Helps analyze and correct production problems.
  • Performs image inspection by using a computer-based high-accuracy measurement system to inspect the holographic image for image brightness.
  • Packs, labels, and scans throughout in-process production.
  • Dresses appropriately for position; keeps self well groomed.
  • Is consistently at work and on time; assures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings on time.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
