About The Position

Checks with forge department production schedule and travelers to determine which forging operation requires hot inspection. Reviews forge drawings of the jobs requiring hot inspection to determine required dimensions and mismatch allowance. Makes notes of the information. Inspects parts and checks required dimensions and mismatches against blueprint requirements using measuring devices, tape, steel rule, calipers and micrometers. Notifies the forge leadman and/or blacksmith of any problems. Also notifies supervisor of discrepancies in dimension and surface condition. Completes Daily Production Reports to report time against jobs. Works with forge crews to insure meeting dimensional requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell.
  • Frequently required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have U.S. person status as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
