About The Position

The Quality Trainee reviews, evaluates, and ensures compliance of parts shipped to quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves completing test reports for shipments and evaluating the adequacy and acceptance of quality records. The position requires adherence to company HSE policies and procedures, as well as compliance with federal, local, and state government regulations. Employees are responsible for attending all provided training, adhering to HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and maintaining safe operating procedures. Continuous improvement of HSE performance through objectives, targets, measurement, and reporting is expected. The role also includes implementing and suggesting waste elimination initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • 0-1 year of clerical/administrative experience, preferably in a lab, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
  • Basic mainframe computer systems knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Familiarity with Database systems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Proficient in the use of Calipers, Micrometers, Height gages, ring gages, pin gages, optical comparator and microscopes.
  • Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Good understanding of Geometric tolerance per ANSI Y145.
  • Technical skills in Quality Assurance and manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and inspection equipment.
  • Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.
  • Be exemplary in terms of health, safety and the environment, in particular by respecting and ensuring respect for the instructions and rules established in the field of health, safety and the environment (in particular the LISI golden rules).
  • Immediately correct, whenever possible, or report to superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection.
  • Implement preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks.
  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope.
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work.

  • Be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects semi-finished components including bolt blank stock, washers, internally and externally threaded fasteners, and raw material for conformance to customer specifications and production/manufacturing drawings.
  • Inspects precision machined components and sub-assemblies for conformance to predetermined mechanical standards, specifications, and tolerances according to company quality procedures, production drawings, and industry standards.
  • Performs final inspection of close tolerance fasteners according to company internal procedures and customer requirements.
  • Uses precision measuring equipment and performs detailed dimensional inspections as required.
  • Reads and comprehends blueprints.
  • Performs and assists in physical and metallurgical tests on in-process and final production parts.
  • Performs tasks associated with the movement of materials, supplies, and finished goods to designated areas throughout the facility.
  • Performs preparation techniques of Metallurgical mounts such as grinding, cutting, polishing, and etching.
  • Assists in the preparation of in-process tests on setup parts from various manufacturing operations.
  • Verifies calibration on all test equipment is current prior to use.
  • Reports any safety violation, test equipment misusage, and/or improperly performed work to the Supervisor.
  • Verifies and ensures all jobs and materials have accurate information on identification tags and the correct documentation has been completed.
  • Moves parts and materials to and from factories and departments as indicated on material documentation.
  • Delivers part samples to the quality lab for inspection and evaluation when required.
  • Creates, maintains, and issues all gages used by production through the GageTrak System.
  • Monitors daily temperature and humidity requirements in the gage room.
  • Uses a spreadsheet to find correct offset and insert for Trulok setup.
  • Calibrates various gages performed in-house, updates the entry in the tracking system, and updates the calibration sticker.
  • Controls test bolt inventory in the gage room used by operators and technicians, issues test bolts, and requests additional test bolts as needed from stock.
  • Adheres to and implements all company HSE policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.
