About The Position

This job is to be used with current Bachelors or Masters Degree students. As a Quality Engineering Intern at CoorsTek, you will support the Quality team in improving product and process performance through data analysis, problem-solving, and quality system activities. You will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced Quality Engineers and cross-functional teams to address real manufacturing challenges, support corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role will primarily support an AS9100 gap assessment initiative, providing exposure to aerospace quality requirements and quality system evaluation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
  • Interest in Quality Engineering, manufacturing, or process improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis experience preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or statistical methods
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings (DWGs) and basic GD&T concepts
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.)
  • Interest or experience in technical writing or documentation

Responsibilities

  • Support the AS9100 gap assessment by reviewing processes and documentation, identifying gaps to requirements, and supporting the development and tracking of corrective actions
  • Support structured problem-solving efforts, including participation in root cause analysis and corrective action activities (e.g., 8D support)
  • Assist in analyzing process and product data (scrap, returns, yield, etc.) to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings (DWGs) and begin applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) concepts
  • Support development and maintenance of quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and technical reports
  • Participate in internal audits and help track corrective action closure
  • Assist with basic statistical analysis (capability studies, data trending, reporting)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain) to support quality initiatives
  • Support evaluation of nonconforming material and assist in documentation of disposition and follow-up actions
  • Prepare clear, concise technical documentation and presentations for internal communication and Management Review
