The Quality Engineer will support manufacturing efforts for Original Equipment (OE) and re-manufactured parts for aerospace applications. This role is responsible for ensuring effective process control of manufacturing processes for products such as turbocharger systems, alternators, cabin heating systems, starters, and fuel pumps, all in accordance with FAA regulations.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering or 7 years of implementing effective systems in manufacturing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Quality Engineering, Quality Control and Metrology
  • Able to develop manufacturing standards to ensure consistent machining methods
  • Able to inspect parts utilizing manual gauging – understand inspection instructions.
  • Able to inspect parts utilizing automated inspection methods
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T
  • Able to apply statistical principles such as SPC, capability studies and histograms.
  • Organize, perform, and interpret a Gage R&R
  • Structured problem solving skills to determine root cause
  • Ability to develop a plausible root cause and implement effective corrective action.
  • Familiarization with the principles of Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing
  • Capability of automated machine tools and inspection methods.
  • Metal cutting operations, fixtures, tooling and machining.
  • CNC programming and applications.
  • Processing of raw materials (casting vs. forgings, etc.)
  • Material characteristics (Aluminum, Steel, Elastomers, etc.)
  • Organization skills
  • LEAN principles
  • Group facilitation
  • Project management
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Operation and programming of CMM equipment
  • Nondestructive inspection [magnetic particle and fluorescent penetrant].
  • DMIR certification through the FAA
  • Ability to create FMEAs and Control Plan development
  • Experience with aviation quality management systems (eg AS9100) and the FAA regulatory system
  • Greenbelt lean six sigma

Responsibilities

  • Create / Maintain Process FMEAs and Control Plans
  • Participate in the creation of work Instructions and co-ordinate training
  • Create / Maintain inspection plans for purchased and manufactured hardware.
  • Participate in Process qualification / PPAP activities
  • Lead activities in Customer Issue Resolution
  • Participate in CAR / SCAR management
  • Review drawing / drawing modifications and flow changes into work instructions
  • Coordinate improvement activities with Supplier Quality & operations
  • Participate in CCB
  • Participate in MRB
  • Monitor & ensure compliance to HET Quality manuals & procedures
  • Become conversant in assigned product lines: engineering drawings, work instructions, and Customers.
  • Improve 1 product line relative to FTY & scrap dollars.
