About The Position

The Quality Engineer, Subject Matter Expert (Part-Time) will support the NASA Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama. This role involves supporting the Space Launch System (SLS) program by leveraging extensive quality engineering expertise and NASA experience to ensure safety, mission assurance, and program success. The individual will serve as a Quality Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the SLS Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Chief Safety Office. They will apply historical knowledge of Launch Vehicle GMIPs, assessments, and MRB Authority processes to enhance program objectives and operational excellence. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or a related field.
Candidates with 24+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Must have 20+ years of recent and related work experience.
This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) processes and procedures is highly desired.
Skilled in working with both contractors and NASA senior level engineering and Program/Project Managers in a professional manner and able to communicate complex safety and engineering issues in an understandable and diplomatic manner.

Responsibilities

Support the Space Launch System (SLS) program by leveraging extensive quality engineering expertise and NASA experience to ensure safety, mission assurance, and program success.
Serve as a Quality Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the SLS Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Chief Safety Office.
Apply historical knowledge of Launch Vehicle GMIPs, assessments, and MRB Authority processes to enhance program objectives and operational excellence.
Perform quality engineering activities in support of the Space Launch System (SLS) program at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
Other duties as assigned.
