About The Position

The Quality Engineer - Audits will support work associated with the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) SMASS II contract located at the MSFC in Huntsville, AL. This role involves technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments, and planning/developing S&MA engineering and assurance activities that may have a significant impact on major programs. The position requires performing reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) directorate organizational instructions, and program-specific requirements. It also includes supporting manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects, participating in government milestone reviews, and developing/utilizing tools to identify quality requirements for MSFC programs/projects. A key responsibility is performing AS9100 Audits as a lead or in-line auditor for both in-house MSFC Product Vendors and Major Primes for Space Flight Programs.

Requirements

This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or a related field.
Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
In lieu of degree: Candidates with 9+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.
Knowledge of NASA S&MA requires manufacturing processes in support of the design and development of flight hardware.
Possess an Auditor certification specific to AS9100/ISO9000, and able to adequately perform audits of quality management system requirements.
Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
Manufacturing and Production work center experience required.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

Nice To Haves

Experience in an insight, risk-based, or COTs type contracts as well as compliance-based contract and services is highly desirable.
Launch vehicle integration experience is highly desirable.
Experience working with NASA/DoD flight hardware in a manufacturing and production environment.
Integrated Product Team Experience.
Design or process engineering experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and developing S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs.
Prepare, evaluate and provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related processes, procedures and manufacturing activities including implementation of procedures. Specifically with contractor manufacturing systems.
Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) directorate organizational instructions and program specific requirements.
Support the preparation, evaluation, and assessment of documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects.
Participate in government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.
Develop/utilize tools to ensure that all applicable quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs/projects.
Perform drawing and procurement documentation review.
Perform AS9100 Audits as a lead and or in-line auditor for both In-house MSFC Product Vendors and Major Primes for Space Flight Programs representing NASA MSFC SMA Team.
Other duties as assigned.
