About The Position

This role is for a Quality Engineer in a high-precision manufacturing operation supporting aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor industries. Unlike traditional quality roles, this position focuses on the manufacturing process, spending most of its time developing detailed inspection plans for CNC-machined components. The ideal candidate will enjoy analyzing complex parts, understanding their machining processes, and determining appropriate inspection methods for created features.

Requirements

Experience working with precision CNC-machined components.
Strong understanding of GD&T and complex engineering drawings.
Experience with First Article Inspections / FAIs.
Experience developing or working from detailed inspection plans.
Understanding of how a machined part progresses through multiple CNC operations.
Knowledge of dimensional inspection methods, CMMs, and precision measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

Create the inspection strategy for complex machined parts by working between CNC Programming, Manufacturing, and Quality departments.
Review engineering drawings, CAD models, CNC operations, and manufacturing documentation.
Understand the impact of each CNC operation on the part and the features being created or modified.
Utilize 1Factory to build detailed, operation-level inspection plans.
Determine measurement requirements, timing, and inspection methods.
Interpret complex GD&T, datums, tolerances, and critical characteristics.
Develop and support First Article Inspections (FAIs).
Collaborate with CNC programmers when machining intent or process documentation is unclear.
Partner with machinists, CMM programmers, inspectors, and engineers to resolve inspection and manufacturing issues.
Identify quality problems early in the manufacturing process.
Ensure machinists understand production responsibilities and Quality knows verification requirements after each operation.
