Requirements

  • Current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Experience performing welding inspections in an ASME NQA-1 nuclear-regulated environment.
  • ASNT SNT-TC-1 A Level II certification in Visual Testing (VT) and Liquid Penetrant (PT).
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Section III, Section IX, 831.1/831.3, and AWS Dl.1/Dl.6.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Bachelor's degree in quality assurance, quality control management or engineering discipline such as mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or other related technical field or demonstrated equivalent combination.
  • 4+ years of related experience required (for Grade 24).
  • 7+ years of related experience required (for Grade 25).
  • 10+ years of related experience required (for Grade 26).

Nice To Haves

  • Magnetic Particle (MT) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual (VT) inspections of welding fabrication, fit-ups, and joint preparation.
  • Perform or monitor Nondestructive Examination (NDE) methods, including but not limited to Liquid Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT), in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-IA.
  • Ensure all fabrication activities adhere strictly to the requirements of design specifications, codes, standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee weld activities: compliance of base metals, proper fit-up, cleanliness and conditions, support repair activities.
  • Prepare, review, and approve detailed inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and supporting documentation.
  • Review Welding Procedure Specifications and Qualification Records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, fabrication teams, and clients to resolve welding quality issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety standards (e.g., fall protection, confined spaces).
  • Other duties as assigned.
