About The Position

FM Industries is a premier manufacturing solutions provider specializing in build to print, precision machined components, anodizing, and engineered thermal spray coatings. We provide customers leading-edge support from prototype to production. The Quality Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities that ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures within an organization. Duties may include developing and preparing Customer First Article Reports, coordinating internal and external non-conforming parts management processes (MRB/RMA), managing plant tooling calibration programs, assisting in the development and documentation of quality control processes, compiling data, generating reports, analyzing data, and implementing improvements to enhance product or service quality. This position works cross-functionally and requires strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills. A Quality Coordinator II may be assigned to perform in more than one of the identified areas or in support of multiple plants. Additional tasks beyond those listed may be assigned as required to support the needs of the business.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge and use of inspection tools used to perform measurements.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to frequently changing priorities.
  • Works harmoniously in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • 2-5 years’ experience as a quality coordinator or related quality role.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, and basic GD&T preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates activities related to preparation and submission of the customer first article report process.
  • Reviews customer drawings, associated specifications, and standards in preparation of FAIR reports.
  • Prepares First Article Reports conforming to customer and company standards by reviewing and documenting inspection results throughout the supply chain.
  • Reviews inspection results and communicates findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with suppliers, quality control teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that initial samples meet specified requirements and standards.
  • Manages and coordinates administration and disposition of internal (MRB) and external (RMA) non-conforming products using defined processes.
  • Compiles quality (internal and customer) information and communicates results to management.
  • Generates reports from internal databases, distributes reports to various users and/or summarizes the data in spreadsheets for management.
  • Schedules and facilitates regular MRB meetings and documents results.
  • Provides suggested updates to Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions when changes are needed or to improve the understanding of the document or process.
  • Manages and coordinates administration and execution of the Plant Tooling Calibration Program.
  • Maintains the calibration recall list and communicates status to department supervisors/managers.
  • Coordinates with department supervisors for the collection and return of tooling for preparation to 3rd party calibration suppliers.
  • Coordinates the delivery and receipt of tools delivered to the outside calibration suppliers.
  • Responsible for utilizing shop paper procedure including updates, signatures and stamps, counting quantities, labeling and non-conformance related activities.
  • Operates a variety of pneumatic or electric power finishing tools such as orbital sander, DA sander, flappers and die grinders.
  • Reads blueprints, tooling instructions, and standard charts for specifications.
  • Follows blueprints or instructions to achieve required surface finishes such as lay patterns and sealing surfaces.
  • Ensures company procedures and “best machine practices” are being followed and are in place at all times.
  • Installs helicoils and dowel pins into parts and subassemblies using blueprints and shop routers to determine size, quantity, and location.
  • Determines quantity of hardware required for each work order and kits for installation.
  • Reports all material shortages to the Production Supervisor.
  • Masks sealing surface lay patterns and polishes to achieve the desired surface finish on a variety of post anodize parts.
  • Polishes O ring(s) to achieve desired surface finish on a variety of post anodize parts.
  • Verifies conformity of finished parts to specifications and part drawings prior to hardware installation.
  • Labels and isolates non-conforming material to prevent accidental use.
