About The Position

Under indirect supervision, the incumbent monitors the process and outcome of Trauma patient care through performance improvement activities centered on the evaluation of all aspects of Trauma patient care. The goals are to ensure the quality and timely provision of excellent Trauma care, to improve the knowledge and skills of trauma care providers, and to provide the institutional structure and organization to promote quality improvement. The incumbent facilitates the establishment of policies, procedures, and protocols for the care of the injured, oversees systematic surveillance of this care and modifies the process, and where necessary, to attain and sustain appropriate standards. Critical to these efforts, the incumbent possesses a detailed understanding of the causes, treatment and outcomes of injury and appropriate care of the injury as established by the American College of Surgeons.

Requirements

  • Experience in Trauma Nursing, Trauma Registry database and trauma systems.
  • Recent experience in a designated trauma center.
  • American College of Surgeons and Joint Commission background and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting and involving quality assessment/improvement as they relate to trauma programs.
  • Knowledge of CQI principles and tools.
  • Experience with implementation of office systems and computerized information and database management.
  • Experience in data management and analysis, research methodology and statistical process control.
  • Registered Nurse: CA
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
