About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring that products meet internal and customer specifications through various inspections and monitoring of work practices. The Quality Control position requires adherence to Food Safety Quality Assurance policies and USDA regulations, accurate data collection, and effective communication with management and USDA officials. The job also involves physical demands such as lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in challenging environmental conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimal computer skills or willingness to learn company software.
  • Ability to move, open, and inspect plant-produced products.
  • Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for up to four (4) continuous hours with a minimum of 8 hours per shift.
  • Physically able to navigate to all areas of the processing facility and follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in a damp environment with a wide range of temperatures.
  • Dependable and prompt with strong integrity and work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to learn the methods and practices used in red meat processing.
  • Ability to work varying days (including weekends) when processing schedules change.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere and communicate cooperatively.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Food Safety Quality Assurance policies and USDA regulations, and model and coach these expectations to facility team members.
  • Complete inspections to verify product compliance with internal and customer specifications and take appropriate actions for non-compliance.
  • Accurately conduct product reviews to ensure compliance with product grading, packaging, and weight procedures.
  • Monitor team members' work practices, address deficiencies, inform team members of nonconformance, and report issues to supervisors.
  • Monitor product processing areas and practices to mitigate potential foreign material contamination.
  • Inspect equipment for cleanliness and proper working condition before startup or during the process and record findings.
  • Collect, track, and implement numerical data.
  • Communicate properly with all levels of management and USDA.
  • Perform job assignments using company software.
