About The Position

Bell Lumber & Pole is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join their team. In this role, the inspector will examine treated utility poles to ensure they meet strict industry and customer standards. The position involves working closely with plant operations, supporting safety, quality, and performance across the yard.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Strong understanding (or willingness to learn) ANSI, REA, AWPA, and ASTM standards
Ability to read a tape measure accurately
Comfortable working around and on pole piles, including climbing ladders
Solid math skills and attention to detail
Good communication and record-keeping abilities
Commitment to safety and proper PPE use

Nice To Haves

Experience working outdoors in variable weather conditions
Hands-on manual labor a plus (consistently lift 50 pounds)
Previous quality control or inspection experience is a plus
Familiarity with inventory systems is helpful

Responsibilities

Inspect treated poles for compliance with ANSI, REA, AWPA, and customer specifications
Identify defects and apply proper grading rules based on relevant standards
Physically roll poles with third party inspector to visually inspect each pole
Perform penetration and retention testing on treating charges
Titrate treating solution as required
Accurately complete and maintain inspection records and documentation
Communicate inspection results with plant and quality leadership
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Collaborate with internal and independent quality inspectors
Other yard duties as needed
