Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
At least one year of prior job-related laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and standard operating procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages and volumes.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
COMPUTER LITERATE - Microsoft Office, BECS (blood established computer software).

Responsibilities

Prepare platelet samples for qualification determination.
Perform bacterial contamination testing on platelet products.
Accurately enter and document test results in laboratory computer systems.
Collect and prepare red blood cell products for quality control testing.
Conduct CLIA moderate complexity proficiency testing in compliance with regulatory standards.
Perform routine instrument maintenance, including daily quality control checks, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Monitor laboratory inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies.
Assist with laboratory projects and validation activities.
Support the review, revision, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
