About The Position

The Quality Control Technician - Computers works primarily in the Quality Control department of a branch warehouse but may be temporarily reassigned to work in any other warehouse department. These short reassignments are dictated by the flow of work and the demands of the business. Employees in this role will help out in all disciplines (audio, video, projection, etc.) of the QC department and must have a general proficiency with basic AV equipment and computers. Requirements

  • Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school or a GED
  • Knowledge of operating systems, device drivers, basic networking, and system imaging software
  • Possess a basic understanding of inventory software for forecasting of workload
  • Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Possesses 2-3 years’ experience working with computer equipment in a production environment.
  • Strong understanding of basic network topology
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and manage time in time sensitive situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure the quality of a regional fleet of PC and Macintosh laptops, desktops, tablets, and all-in-one computers, as well as LaserJet printers, SOHO networking equipment, remote presenters, and digital video playback software
  • Diagnose, log, and repair damaged items
  • Manage firmware versions for applicable devices
  • Organize and store all tested equipment
  • Ensure all equipment is presentable and in ideal working condition
  • Be able to handle hard deadlines and plan workflow depending on client needs
  • Occasionally serve as on-site customer support
  • Assist other departments when necessary
  • Follow direction of the department leader and managers
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment to ensure safety and compliance
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Performs QC procedures according to Rentex policy on equipment returning from rental.
  • Cleans cases and equipment so that all equipment presents well.
  • Correctly processes missing or damaged equipment according to Rentex Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reshelves equipment correctly, with QC tag.
  • Pulls/preps/scans equipment for outbound orders.
  • Follows direction of the department leader and management team.
