Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of food quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. This role involves developing and initiating standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, as well as devising sampling procedures and designing forms for recording and evaluating quality data. The position also establishes programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production and testing equipment, and develops methods for the disposition of discrepant material. The supervisor will direct workers engaged in measuring and testing products, and will interface with various departments, customers, and vendors to resolve quality-related problems. A key responsibility includes providing computerized status reports on inspection activities and nonconforming items. Additionally, the role involves compiling training materials, conducting training sessions on food safety and quality control, and maintaining knowledge of the latest codes and developments in testing methods. The supervisor must ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies (USDA, FDA, Bureau of Weights and Measures, State and Local regulations), maintain current HACCP plans, and develop corrective action plans for audit findings. Providing Certificates of Analysis to customers as requested by Management is also part of the duties.
