About The Position

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all pipe shipped meets or exceeds company specifications and standards. This role involves inspecting plastic pipe and fittings during in-process and finished stages, making acceptance decisions using standard procedures and instruments, and managing the quality control function. The position may involve direct supervision of subordinates and requires a high degree of independent decision-making, working under the general direction of the MOS and Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience in production of product.
  • Experience working in QC management functions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Sight capabilities to distinguish proper products identification as well as warning indicators.
  • Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
  • Sight capabilities to use tools required for quality control verification.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements for inspecting pipe.
  • Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching in all areas to inspect products and raw materials.
  • Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
  • Hear and understand all verbal communication whether it is face to face or via telephone.
  • See and understand all written communication.
  • Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials and products produced to determine acceptance and/or denial of each.
  • Climb and descend all ladders or steps whether fixed or portable on company facilities in order to inspect pipe and raw materials.
  • Push and / or pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30".
  • Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure yourself or fellow employees, i.e., power saws, drills, hammers, presses, latches, etc.
  • Sight capability to safely operate at arms length machinery and power and I or hand tools needed to accomplish the requirements of the job assignments for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Internet/Intranet and AS400 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign work to subordinates.
  • Train subordinates in the inspection and quality process.
  • Oversee all quality testing of pipe.
  • Investigate and recommend resolution to customer complaints.
  • Oversee all QA record keeping.
  • Complete various quality reports and make recommendations on process improvements.
  • Participate in or lead quality projects.
  • Determine the quality of finished goods for shipment and returned goods for acceptance to stock.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed.
  • Head ISO as the ISO Coordinator.
