About The Position

The Quality Control Supervisor is accountable for providing leadership and oversight for all quality functions to ensure food safety and food quality. This role involves supervising and implementing training, career planning, and performance reviews for the team. The supervisor is responsible for selecting top talent, coaching for performance, and participating in daily line activities to ensure shift quality standards are met. They will also coordinate staff assignments for off-site locations, monitor packaging compliance with regulations, and understand the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Key responsibilities include reporting food safety issues, providing support for food safety programs (SQF, HACCP, GMP), verifying quality control documentation, facilitating team meetings, and overseeing the auditing and inspection of packaging materials. The role also involves providing ongoing assistance and leadership to improve the department's quality control program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or a minimum of 3 years prior experience preferably in a high speed manufacturing environment
  • Three years plus experience in Quality Control required
  • Working knowledge of packaging equipment and how it impacts quality
  • Excellent technical knowledge and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and influence management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and implement the required training of team and ensures adherence to all policies, procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Supervise and implement career planning and personal development of staff.
  • Supervise and ensures annual performance reviews are effective and completed on time.
  • Responsible for the selection of top talent and on the job training for new hires and coaching for top performance.
  • Participate in daily line activities and communicate with management across all departments to ensure shift quality standards are met.
  • Assign department staff in order to meet production requirements.
  • Direct coordination of staff assignments to food product copackers, monitoring production activities in off-site locations.
  • Utilizing input from the Compliance department, monitor the packaging compliance of all state and federal packaging regulations.
  • Responsible for understanding the Food Safety and Quality Management System and related activities, including the Food Safety & Quality Policy.
  • Report problems, initiate and record actions within the food safety management system.
  • Provide support and guidance for the food safety and food quality programs (SQF, HACCP, GMP).
  • Verify and maintain quality control documentation.
  • Facilitate team meetings.
  • Provide technician training and development, ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Oversee the auditing process of all packaging materials, expediting the quality inspection process of the materials in order to facilitate timely use.
  • Provide ongoing assistance and leadership to develop and improve the department’s quality control program.
