About The Position

This position is responsible for reviewing and understanding plans and specifications, and ensuring completed work meets the stated requirements. Located at the Woodstock plant, this is a position that requires diligent compliance with safety regulations. As the Quality Control Specialist, the ideal candidate must be able to read and interpret shop drawings, be detailed, and focus on the task at hand while managing priorities and deadlines. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established procedures must be followed closely. In addition to the standard Quality Inspector position, the Quality Control Specialist must have the ability to interpret complex structural drawings and have experience understanding and measuring the setup and reinforcement required for complex concrete products.

Requirements

  • Civil / Engineering diploma, or related field
  • Experience in pre-stressed precast, complex wood and steel forming, CWB welding 
  • Quality Inspector experience in precast concrete materials
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and setup requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with specialized design and drafting software tools including Auto CAD, 3D modelling, experience with Tekla a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Interpretation of complex engineering drawings: unit drawing, sections, layouts, elevations
  • Inspection and measurement of intricate formwork, reinforcement, and special hardware
  • Direct communication with Engineering to review drawing issues causing setup complications
  • Inspection of intricate hardware with special welding requirements
  • Casting, testing and inspection of precast concrete structures for bridge girders, wall panels and parking garage components, according to building codes, drawings and specifications
  • Monitor the manufacturing process for quality and compliance with design and specification requirements
  • Inspect completed concrete product components to ensure the quality meets engineering design and project requirements
  • Monitor and perform all concrete tests at plant and on site, as required
  • Complete lab testing and calibration requirements
  • Collect and test raw materials
  • Note and report work that does not meet design requirements
  • Create and complete project reports; pre-pour, post-pour, stressing reports, NCR reports
  • Control and maintain project records including engineering drawings, project reports and material test reports
  • Proactively suggest improvements to current processes
  • Implement approved corrective actions when required
  • Work together with Engineering and Drafting departments to review project and design requirements
  • Communicate effectively with all departments including internal and external customers
  • Work safely as per company and provincial standards and report any unsafe work
