About The Position
Within a team framework, a field technician is responsible for implementing the QA/QC program for batching, mixing and delivery of ready-mixed concrete. The purpose of the program is to produce concrete that meets project specifications and customer expectations. Follows daily direction from the Field Technician Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, Tech school graduate preferred.
- Must have a college degree or work towards one.
- Good oral/written communications skills.
- Ability to use a scientific calculator.
- Capable of making quick and responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license.
- ACI Field and State Plant and Field certifications or willing to attain after hired.
- Able to lift 100 lbs. and climb up and down the ready-mix trucks.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate production and testing equipment.
- Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance.
- Perform QC tests for: entrained air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sandiness, yield, setting time, water-cement ratio and strength.
- Record and report test results to dispatch, batch personnel and the customer.
- Use test results to make mix adjustments.
- Troubleshoot fresh/hardened concrete problems.
- Conduct periodic informative programs for drivers, batch personnel, etc.
- Compliance with job description addendum.
