The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for daily checks of produce slots to ensure products staged for shipping meet quality standards. This includes documenting quality with pictures and reports for the sales team. The role involves ensuring proper product rotation, inspecting inbound perishable products, and requesting vendor credits for items not meeting standards. The inspector will also ensure correct storage and handling of fresh produce to minimize waste, check code-dated products for rotation, and work with inventory SOPs for product disposition. Facilitating vendor returns, identifying inventory concerns, and assisting in reducing waste, customer returns, and quality credits are also key functions. Additionally, the inspector will assist with paperwork for loads with temperature issues and monitor spoilage reports. Compliance with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures is mandatory, and the inspector is expected to work safely, reporting all hazards immediately.
