About The Position

The City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department within the Capital Delivery Division has an opening for a Quality Control Construction Inspector I. The selected candidate will be responsible for participating in measurement and warranty inspections of construction projects involving infrastructure installation and concrete and asphalt paving to ensure conformance with plan specifications and contracts. This role requires establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, utilities, the general public, and other employees. The ideal candidate is responsible, dependable, extremely detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass physical and drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the interpretation of plans and specifications in the construction of infrastructure projects
  • Experience with measuring and inspecting HMAC and Concrete pavement and underground utilities
  • MS Access, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro skills

Responsibilities

  • Reviews plans and specifications for the assigned projects prior to measurement and warranty inspection.
  • Observes work during progress and upon completion, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to both internal City staff and the development community.
  • Completes construction project measurements, prepares daily quantity calculations including plan markups, drawings, spreadsheets, and pictures.
  • Resolves quantity differences in the contractor’s pay estimates with project inspectors and contractors.
  • Coordinates with other employees and contractors on large projects that require traffic control and surveying.
  • Completes Warranty Inspections with contractors and other employees to ensure that any defects in workmanship or materials are corrected before the release of maintenance bonds.
