About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector will be required to comprehend specifications to determine testing/inspection procedures and equipment to be used. The candidate must be able to read dials and displays, compare results with specifications and record test/inspection data, confer with engineers, technicians and production personnel. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform dimensional checks and visual verifications or raw material, hardware, fabricated and machined parts and assemblies to acceptance criteria. Document non-conformance reports/material. Ability to work with minimal instruction and supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
3 - 5 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection with programming experience.
General mechanical inspection with calipers, micrometers, etc.
Geometric tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
MS Office (Word, Excel, Email).
Blueprint reading skills.
Experience working directly with fabrication and machinists’ craftspeople.
Knowledge of basic technical mathematics; inspection, measuring, and test equipment; materials and processes; inspection technology; and basic statistics.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of PCDMIS software and programming.
Working knowledge of Inspection Arms (Romer or similar).
Working knowledge of Laser Tracker Systems (Leica or similar).

Responsibilities

Performing 1st piece, in process & final inspection on materials, products and assemblies.
Reading drawings, comprehending specifications and tolerances, reading dial indicators and digital gages, comparing results with specifications and recording test data, conferring with engineers, technicians and production personnel as necessary.
Performing dimensional checks and visual verifications of fabricated and machined parts to acceptance criteria.
Using measurement, test equipment and functional gages to determine if product meets all stated requirements.
Validating the quality of machined and fabricated parts and assemblies in terms of dimensional accuracy and visual verification according to acceptance criteria.
Reviewing data supplied with material and parts to acceptance criteria, such as: dimensional reports, traceability reports and certificates of conformity.
Applying a range of inspection techniques and interpreting standards autonomously.
Exchanging information with peers and supervisors.
Ensuring in-date calibrated measuring equipment is used for performing inspections.
Filling out nonconforming material reports and other required records of inspection and tests.
Performing additional duties as assigned.
