About The Position

Delan Associates is seeking Quality Control Inspector candidates in the construction industry for anticipated projects in the Aiken, SC Area. This role involves performing inspections on various components and fabrications according to applicable codes and customer specifications. The inspector will also be responsible for maintaining inspection plans, completing documentation, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring work meets all applicable codes and specifications. The position may also involve developing and administering site-specific quality programs, conducting audits, approving site testing, reviewing documentation, and assisting with punch list management. Additionally, the role includes interfacing with clients and government officials, developing quality programs to meet company goals, potentially acting as a Quality Consultant or temporary project fill-in, and providing supervision and mentorship to other quality professionals. The inspector must implement safety, quality, and ethical standards, support continuous improvement, and participate in cost of quality tracking and nonconformance reporting.

Requirements

  • Graduate secondary school education in welding technology, QA/QC or a related discipline at the University or College level or a minimum of 3 year work experience in QA/QC role.
  • Level I Visual Weld inspection or II Visual Weld Inspection
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Computer literate in MS Office
  • Must be Certified as SNT-TC-1A VT Level II, or the ability to obtain this certification of employment.
  • Civil and mechanical experience.
  • Ability to pass a physical, lift 50 lbs., climb scaffolds and ladders, enter confined spaces, work at heights, wear full body harness, and wear a respirator and Personal Protective Equipment (as needed).
  • U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection on pressure boundary and non-pressure boundary components, assemblies and structural fabrications in accordance with the applicable code of construction and/or customer specifications.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections, concrete inspections, and review of Material Test Reports.
  • Perform receiving inspection, weld visual inspection, and positive material identification.
  • Conduct pressure test inspection.
  • Follow and maintain Inspection and Test Plans or Travelers.
  • Verify American Concrete Institute (ACI) codes and specifications.
  • Perform internal weld monitoring as required.
  • Perform Source Inspections, In-Process Inspections and Final Inspections.
  • Complete all associated documentation, including Quality Control reports, sign-off on drawings, and creation of as-built drawings.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain site quality program.
  • Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, regulatory representatives, and field personnel to ensure work is done correctly.
  • Assure work on-site meets applicable codes and specifications.
  • Develop and administer site-specific Quality Programs.
  • Conduct surveillance/audits of site Contractor Quality Control Programs.
  • Establish inspection plan and track inspections/actions identified.
  • Approve site testing such as soils testing, concrete placement and grout breaks, hydro tests, and NDE testing and verify tests are properly documented.
  • Review and control documentation for the certification of construction equipment and testing equipment.
  • Review turnover packages prior to handoff to Startup.
  • Assist in the coordination of punch list walkdowns/inspections; establish and manage the punch list.
  • Collate Quality Control documentation for final handover to Owner.
  • Interface with clients and government officials.
  • Develop and implement quality programs that assist projects and division to meet company and division quality goals and expectations.
  • Act as Quality Consultant for internal and external clients.
  • Act as temporary project fill-in for lower-level quality professionals.
  • Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Act as mentor to other quality professionals.
  • Implement Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and adhere to Performance Management programs in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, and Guidelines.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a cost of quality tracking system.
  • Track nonconformance reports and corrective/preventative action requests.
