About The Position

Ensures compliance with quality requirements by providing training to personnel and auditing plants and production yards in the utility pole. Shall provide oversite to ensure multiple facilities are producing materials in conformance with industry, company and customer-specific quality standards for untreated and treated material, preservatives, and treating specifications. Travel commitment shall be 60% or greater of working schedule. These requirements will be achieved by performing the following duties:

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience
  • BA/BS degree or at least 2 - 3 years relevant experience in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in French and English, spoken and written
  • Understand governing wood preservation specifications and standards
  • Proficient in QC principles
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Nice To Haves

  • QMS, Engineering, Forest Resources, Business, Operations Management degree a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures corporate quality policies are adhered to at production facilities.
  • Ensure adherence to documented procedures in the QC Manual and ISO 9001 procedures as applicable
  • Routine travel to provide onsite support at treating facilities, production yards and distribution yards . Travel schedule shall be 60% or greater.
  • Provide training as it relates to defect awareness, product quality and procedures.
  • Provide training as it relates to laboritory procedures and methods.
  • Perform facility auditing for conformance with corporate requirements.
  • Production of audit reports and maintenance of quality databases.
  • Monitor waste and non-conforming products in the plants, analyze the causes, and implement actions to reduce them.
  • Maintain and update quality databases to ensure accurate tracking of inspections, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Assists production departments in driving product quality.
  • Evaluate treated materials for compliance with AWPA, ANSI O5.1, CSA O15, CSA O80, or ASTM D25 and customer-specific requirements
  • Evaluate proficiency and knowledge of defect intepretations and quality concepts at production facilities.
  • Performs trouble shooting and corrective actions for unforeseen quality issues.
  • Review laboratory operations and procedures at the facility level.
  • Assists with all TRD audits on the sections applicable to quality control
  • Oversee the maintenance of ISO documents and records on SharePoint document control system
  • Ensures all preservative concentrations in work solutions are monitored on a regular basis to determine they are within specified company and industry standards.
  • Ensure laboratory and inspection equipment is appropriately calibrated at recommended compliance intervals.
  • Maintains accurate records of all training, audits, field and laboratory analysis, correspondence, specifications, research, or other documents.
  • Assures a high degree of communication with regard to progress and conformance are maintained.
  • Works closely with plant managers and other personnel in providing information to optimize quality control objectives.
  • Completes necessary daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to leadership regarding training, auditing and compliance results.
  • Performs other QC related duties as assigned.
