About The Position
The Quality Aviation Inspector is responsible for adhering to service guidance, aviation standards, engineering drawings/blueprints, and company standard operating procedures (SOP). This role performs inspections of maintenance tasks, field level modifications, periodic phase inspections, and completed repair tasks on aircraft or uninstalled components. The inspector ensures airworthiness and quality of aircraft maintenance and alterations, releases aircraft for flight as applicable, and documents non-conformance/malfunctions. They also verify critical safety items, provide "OK to Install" for component parts, conduct weight and balance tasks, and follow FOD and tool control procedures. Additionally, the inspector performs receiving inspections on parts, identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and may provide guidance to less-experienced staff. The role requires carrying out inspection duties at domestic and international locations and may involve working a swing shift schedule. Other duties may be assigned by Quality Supervision.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School diploma/GED.
- Minimum 5 years of aviation experience required with four years working with standards, policies, and regulatory requirements (Government/Military).
- Must have completed military aviation maintenance training or aviation maintenance technical school curriculum or possess an FAA issued A&P license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
- Must have ability to obtain common access card.
- Experience in aircraft records management, Tool and FOD training, Safety, Security, Hazardous Waste Management.
- Proficiency in AS9100/AS9110 and DCMAI 8210.
- Maintain certifications for Portable Penetrant and NDI testing as required.
- Must be able to obtain a passport.
- Inspects metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, and magnetic particle.
- Requires certifications in non-destructive testing in accordance with regulations (ASNT/NAS410). If applicable.

Responsibilities

- Completes non-conformance and corrective action reports (NCR).
- Verifies/witnesses torque and completeness of critical safety items (CSI).
- Provides “OK to Install” for aircraft component parts.
- Conducts weight and balance tasks as required.
- Follows/adheres to company FOD SOP and tool control procedures.
- Performs receiving inspections on DOD or FAA parts.
- Identifies and communicates continuous improvement opportunities.
- May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members or assist maintenance leaders.
- Carries out inspection duties at both Domestic and International locations as assigned.
- Works swing shift schedule to support projects if applicable.
